Baby's Development: Week 30: Baby's Brain Continues to Grow

Baby's Development

Your baby weighs about 1.1 kg (2.4 pounds) and measures about 38 cm (15 inches). Their head is getting bigger, and their brain is beginning to form its characteristic wrinkles, allowing for more brain cells to develop. The skeleton is hardening. The brain, muscles, and lungs continue to mature. Your baby may be showing signs of increased awareness and intelligence. Your baby's nutritional needs are at their peak during this period, so you'll need plenty of protein, Vitamin C, folic acid, iron, and calcium. The lanugo, the fine hair that covered your baby's body, is disappearing. The baby's crown-to-rump length is 27 cm (10.6 inches), and they weigh between 1300-1400 grams (2.8-3.1 pounds). Their total length (head to toe) is approximately 15.5 inches. They have rhythmic breathing patterns, although their lungs are still not fully mature. Their eyes respond to light, and their bones are fully developed.
