At 26 weeks of pregnancy, you're in the second half of your second trimester, and significant changes are occurring for both you and your baby. 1. Baby at 26 Weeks: ● Size and Weight: ○ Your baby is now about the size of a scallion, weighing approximately 1.5 to 2 pounds (680 to 900 grams) and measuring around 14 inches (35.6 cm) long. ● Development: ○ Baby's lungs are developing surfactant, a substance that will help them breathe after birth. ○ Baby's eyelids are beginning to open, and they can now blink. ○ Baby's hearing is well-developed, and they can recognize familiar voices. ○ Baby's brain is rapidly developing, and they are becoming more aware of their surroundings. ○ Baby's movements are becoming more coordinated. ○ Baby has regular sleep and wake cycles. ○ Taste buds are developing.
